Well, Zumba is pretty much the most awesome workout ever. Great music with good people burning a ton of calories without even realizing it.

The story of Zumba begins with an accident too good to be true. Back in the ‘90s in Colombia, dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez, who at the time was an aerobics instructor, happened to have forgotten his music for a class he was teaching that day, without time to go back home to get the right tapes he was left with the only option of using tapes he had in his car. Those tapes were Salsa and Merengue hits. The class went well and students loved it, so much that they asked him to do it again. So he did.

In 2001, Beto moved to Miami and together 2 other partners, registered this new amazing way of exercise as “Zumba”. You may ask why the name “Zumba”?? There is no one specific meaning but, Zumba has become synonymous of a great combination of Fitness and Fun which over the years took over the world. Right now there are over 100 000 Instructor spreading the Zumba Love through 184 different countries.

Years have gone by Zumba is alive more then ever; Zumba has changed the life of many instructors and students and it can sure change your too.

Why do Zumba? Because it’s a totally different way to work out!

It’s fun. The more you enjoy your exercise routine, the more likely you are to stick with it. Students say they have so much fun that they forget they are actually exercising.

Great to support weight loss. You can burn an average of 300 to 600 (or even more) calories in one hour of class. When it comes to calorie expenditure remember the more effort you put out the more you “burn”.

Tones your entire body. Zumba targets all different muscles groups, form upper body, to lower body and core, you get a complete work out, might even feel a bit sore after the first class.

Boost your heart’s health. You get all the benefits from an aerobic work out, with bursts of high intensity throughout the class to get the heart rate up.

Helps de-stress and overall health. Turning your attention to dance, and away from the daily grid, is a great way to relieve stress. Studies show that exercise is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving balance and concentration, and enhancing overall cognitive function.

Improves coordination. In Zumba, generally you arms and legs are moving in all different directions, so this requires some coordination. With repeated practice improves coordination and helps you feel more comfortable with moving your body.

Makes you Happy. Every time you exercise, you release endorphins and other hormones that gives you that “feel good” sensation. When you finish the class you do not exhausted but yes full of energy and power to conquer the day.
